My name is Ayan Raghunathan, and I am a first-year student at the Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. I am an adept and methodical developer with experience working on a variety of software projects, both independently and in collaborative team environments. Through these experiences, I have built a strong foundation in problem-solving, writing clean and efficient code, and effectively communicating within a group to deliver high-quality results.

I am skilled, driven, and innovative, with a receptive and responsive mindset that allows me to quickly identify areas for improvement and continuously refine my work. I take pride in being detail-oriented while maintaining efficiency, ensuring that my solutions are both robust and scalable. My ability to learn quickly and apply feedback has been key to my growth as a developer and teammate.

I am currently seeking a Summer 2026 internship in software development where I can apply my technical skills, strong work ethic, and collaborative mindset in a professional setting. I am eager to contribute to meaningful projects, learn from experienced engineers, and continue developing my skills by tackling real-world challenges.

About Me

I'm Ayan Raghunathan, starting out as a first-year in Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech. I really like software development and making tech that actually helps people. Problem-solving has always pulled me in, you know, taking big complicated things and breaking them down into smaller bits that make sense. That's how I got into programming, it seems like a way to take ideas and make them real, something practical.

One project I did was this unit conversion app for Android. I used Kivy for it, because I wanted something straightforward that anyone could use. I tried to make it work well, but also keep the interface simple and not confusing. Lately, I've been messing around with data and predictions, like building a model for NFL games in this AI hackathon. It involved cleaning up data, picking features, and getting into machine learning basics. I think iteration is key there, just keep tweaking it. Oh, and I did an Arduino traffic light thing too, which got me into embedded stuff, handling real-time controls and mixing hardware with code.

I try to approach stuff methodically, always looking to grow. Feedback helps a lot, whether it's my coding or how I tackle problems. In teams or alone, I focus on communicating clearly, being adaptable, and getting things done efficiently. I aim to add value and pick up new things from others.

Looking forward, software engineering sounds right for starting out, working on big systems in a team setting to build my skills. Eventually, I want to try entrepreneurship, creating solutions for real issues. It's exciting to keep learning and pushing what tech can do, though I'm not sure exactly how it'll all play out yet.

Resume

Career Goals

I plan to begin my career as a software engineer at a leading technology company, where I can work on large-scale systems, collaborate with highly skilled engineers, and continue developing a strong technical foundation. My goal in this phase is to deepen my expertise in areas such as system design, scalable architectures, and real-world problem solving while gaining experience building products that impact millions of users. Working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment will also allow me to refine my ability to write efficient, maintainable code and contribute effectively within cross-functional teams.

In the long term, I aspire to transition into entrepreneurship by leveraging the technical and professional experience I gain early in my career. I am particularly interested in identifying meaningful problems and building innovative, technology-driven solutions that can create real value. By combining strong engineering skills with creativity, adaptability, and a willingness to take calculated risks, I hope to eventually found and grow my own venture. This path reflects both my passion for software development and my ambition to take ownership of ideas and bring them to life at scale.

Projects

Conversion App | July 2024 – September 2024
Creator

  • Developed a multi-functional unit conversion application for Android using the Python-based Kivy framework, enabling users to accurately convert values across mass, volume, temperature, and length.

  • Designed an intuitive and responsive user interface to ensure ease of use and efficient navigation between conversion categories.

  • Implemented modular and scalable code structure to support future feature expansion and maintainability.

  • Tested and debugged the application to ensure accuracy of calculations and consistent performance across different inputs.

Arduino Traffic Light System

  • Designed and implemented a traffic light control system using an Arduino microcontroller, integrating red, yellow, and green LEDs with a pushbutton for pedestrian interaction.

  • Programmed sequential light transitions to simulate real-world traffic flow, incorporating timing control for each signal phase.

  • Implemented conditional logic to override the normal light cycle when the pushbutton is pressed, triggering a red-light state to allow for a pedestrian crossing interval.

  • Utilized digital input/output operations and debouncing techniques to ensure reliable button detection and system responsiveness.

  • Gained hands-on experience with embedded systems concepts, including hardware-software integration, real-time control, and circuit design.

NFL Predictive Model | October 2025 – Present

  • Initiated development during an AI-focused hackathon, building a machine learning model to predict outcomes of NFL games using historical data.

  • Performed extensive data preprocessing, including cleaning datasets, handling missing values, and structuring raw data for model readiness.

  • Engineered meaningful features such as team performance metrics, player statistics, and game conditions to improve predictive accuracy.

  • Implemented and experimented with multiple machine learning algorithms to evaluate performance and optimize predictions.

  • Currently conducting model validation, hyperparameter tuning, and error analysis to improve generalization and reduce overfitting.

  • Designed the backend modeling pipeline with future integration of a user interface in mind, though full UI development is still in progress.
